What comes to mind when you hear the term “gender literacy”? Books perhaps? It sounds like it’s a concept that has been around for a while, but it was actually recently coined by a new organization called Chalk Circle.
Chalk Circle was founded by Meabh Loughnane and Michelle Noon with the aim to promote greater awareness about the effects of rigid gender roles, and their relationship with gender inequality, discrimination, oppression and violence. We catch up with Meabh to chat about gender socialization, and how Chalk Cirlce is working with young people to open up the conversation about gender.
Co-host Sophie Klein reports on the Border Force Act, a new piece of legislation that seems innocuous, but that can have huge impacts on the most vulnerable.
